Chaplains in Education 2025-2026

Growing Faith is a national commitment to achieve a culture change within the Church of England, so that every aspect of mission and ministry is considered by what it means for children, young people and families. It comes from the vision set by the House of Bishops and endorsed by General Synod in 2019. It concerns relationships between schools and churches, and how these are developed to resource and support households to grow in faith together. The Growing Faith Foundation has been created to support dioceses and parishes to do this even more effectively than they do at present.
Who are we?

The network is formed of chaplains (and those who work and volunteer in similar capacities)  in schools and post-16 education. We meet in order to:

  • Increase our understanding of Growing Faith and the contribution our roles currently and potentially make through our work with children and young people, families, schools and churches
  • Explore themes relevant to our work together and learn from others in the field
  • Provide peer support in a safe space, including encouragement, ideas, resource-sharing and prayer
  • Engage in critical reflections and challenge with one another

What are our aims?

We hope that:

We will  gather regularly and build long-term, supportive relationships

We will understand the Growing Faith commitment and how and where we are contributing, and that this knowledge will help us in our work

We will share our knowledge, experience, resources and skills for the common good of the group, and ultimately the benefit of the children and young people we serve

We will learn together from experts in the fields we have chosen to explore, and from each other

We will work increasingly in collaboration to support the spiritual flourishing of children and young people

Please sign up below so that we can welcome you properly and send out some information and the Zoom link to you in advance of the first meeting. In the event of you signing up, your email address may be shared with a group facilitator so that they can contact you directly. This will be a chaplain who is external to the GFF team.
